Last Friday night was the last of the Biennial installments of Whitney Live. Lucky Dragons (Luke Fischbeck and Sara Rara) came by with their improvised electronic “nature jams” all the way from LA. Luke played the Lower Gallery last summer, opening for Dirty Projectors during Summer of Love, and again at the start of the Biennial in the Park Avenue Armory’s gigunda Drill Hall. This was much more intimate. We got to watch up close while Luke and Sara made a force field with rocks “borrowed” from Central Park and created soundscapes of audience-generated noise.
Lucky Dragons working the crowd last summer…
Before Lucky Dragons, Matthew Brannon also gave us a very lovely presentation of his Biennial project the last page in a very long novel, 2008, recorded live at night in the Park Avenue Armory during the course of the Biennial programming (produced by Art Production Fund). Brannon made recordings in remote areas of the Armory as part of a “haunted house script” of intense social moments experienced from a dark corner far away. We got to hear a special sneak preview of the recording, which once finished will be available for purchase at the Museum store. Proceeds will go to the Women’s Shelter at the Park Avenue Armory.
Here we are on Brooklyn Vegan and in someone’s homemade video. Hello friend!
